Exhibition of "Old Beaufort in Pictures"

Beaufort Hill Miners Welfare Hall held an open day of ‘Old Beaufort in Photographs’ on 4th May 2019. Joining us were members of Blaenau Gwent Heritage Forum, Glyn Protheroe, a very skilled local artist and Representatives from The  Ebbw Vale branch of North Gwent Gwent Family History.

The event was extremely well attended by members of the public from Beaufort and the surrounding area throughout the day. Those who attended were treated to a display of almost 300 old photographs of Beaufort and the surrounding areas. They were also afforded the opportunity to delve into their family history and also discover more about the industrial background of the area relating to the Beaufort Ironworks and Beaufort Brickworks. Following the positive feedback received from the public, it is proposed to organise another open day next year. If anyone has any old photographs or artefacts they would be prepared to share with us please get in touch.

I attended the exhibition today and i enjoyed it very much. I have seen lots of the photos you had on display on facebook but there were lots of photos I haven't seen. I found out something I had wondered about for years, where Beaufort Station had stood. So I'm happy that I know now. Thank you for putting on such a lovely display.
